Groundwater treatment plant for the purification of chromium, PFT, PFOA
Treated media: Soil, Groundwater
Flow rate: 50 (m3/h)
Substances: Chromium, PFAS, PFOA
Processes: Adsorption, Activated Carbon
Commissioning: 2009
KF Company: Harbauer Berlin GmbH
Depending on the water level of the Rhine, the plant operates with three different plant throughputs (11/28/43 m3/h). The plant is completely housed in a lightweight construction hall. The purified water is discharged directly into the inner nozzle.
In the first process step, the highly toxic chromium (VI) is reduced to absorbable and non-toxic chromium (III). The mixing-in of the reducing agent is carried out proportionally with a redox value monitored.
In the second process step, the chromium absorption takes place via three fixed bed absorbers connected in series. The chromium (III) is completely bound to the absorption material. To protect the absorber road, a gravel filter stage was connected upstream of the absorbers.
In the third process step, three series-connected water activated carbon filters PFT, including PFOA adsorbed, The PFT cleaning operation was operated until the end of 2010. Fully automatic operation is ensured by remote control and remote monitoring with process visualization and complete data archiving. The system has been running continuously since 2009 with a system availability of 99%.
