Groundwater treatment plant for CFC contaminated groundwater

Ostendstraße, Berlin Köpenick

Ressources: Soil, Groundwater, Air

Flow rate: 15 (m3/h)

Pollutants: CFC

Processes: Desorption, Catalytic oxidation

In operation since: Oct 2013

KF Company: Harbauer Berlin GmbH

723409 Ostendstraße

Very heavily polluted groundwaters with a phase component receive an additional pretreatment, which consists of a heavy material separator and a coalescence separator. The hydrogen halide compounds (hydrogen chloride and hydrogen fluoride) obtained in the catalytic oxidation are removed from the exhaust air in a separate washing column.

In order to reduce the energy requirement as far as possible, the purified exhaust air from the catalytic oxidation is used via a heat exchanger for preheating the process air.

The resulting acids (HCl, HF) are neutralized with sodium hydroxide solution. For the most part, the washing water is circulated to prevent unnecessary consumption of water.

The purified groundwater is discharged into the R-channel of Berliner Wasserbetriebe.
